Blood test to be performed
Donor’s blood is tested for
- Antibodies against HIV-I and - II
- VDRL
- Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)
- Hepatitis C (HCV-Ab) and
- Blood group (ABO) is registered.
- All donors are screened for Thalessemia.
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Peripheral blood smear : to check the normality of blood cells.
Once every three months, donors are re-tested for the sexually transmissible diseases: HIV-I and -II, syphilis (VDRL) & hepatitis B and C.
