IUI is the simplest form of ART. It requires millions of sperm to become successful, hence entire semen sample is used to do IUI.

Frozen semen sample is thawed (warmed) one hour before IUI. Sperm wash-Sperm preparation process is the same as of fresh semen sample. Prepared semen sample is used for IUI.

Semen freezing for IUI is useful when

• Husband cannot give semen on demand – when instructed to give semen
• Absentee Husband – When husband cannot remain present at the time of IUI.
  - Due to job condition,
  - Staying abroad or Out of station, etc.

When semen parameters are variable, Man can freeze his semen. When the sample is good, it ensures good quality sperm at the time of IUI and protects him from unexpected poor semen parameters.

Cryoaccumulation – When semen parameters are poor/weak, person can freeze multiple samples of semen and use it for IUI when needed. It is called cryoaccumulation.
