IVF is more advanced form of ART, where requirement comes down to thousands.
Frozen semen sample is thawed (warmed) one hour before IVF. Sperm wash-sperm preparation process is the same as of fresh semen sample. Prepared sperm are used to fertilize the eggs In vitro – in IVF lab.
Semen freezing for IVF is useful when:
- Husband cannot give semen on demand – when instructed to give semen.
- Absentee husband
- When husband cannot remain present at the time of IVF
- Due to job condition
- Staying abroad or Out of station, etc.
When semen parameters are variable, Man can freeze his semen. When the sample is good, it ensures good quality sperm at the time of IVF and protects him from unexpected poor semen parameters.
Important
It is highly recommended that one semen sample is frozen before the actual day of ovum pick up cycle to ensure that the sperm will be available when needed and treatment cycle would be completed safely and successfully.
